The Cat and the Boots

Today I was confronted with these two choices; Kill the cat and rip it open like a bag of chips OR drown it in a basin of water, with a dash of paprika and clorox. Wait, there's a third choice; Put the cat on a baking tray, lined with potatoes and tomatoes. Sprinkle some rosemary and voila! We have a crispy roasted cat.

But I choose to put something else on the baking tray and came out with this instead-

The cat ate my boots. Yes. The cat ATE my leather boots. For a moment or two I forgot that the cat is just a cat. Murder seems like a brilliant idea. I won't be sent to prison for murdering a cat right? Not if they don't know I killed any right? Right?

Its not that I have not killed before right? How many mosquitoes have been martyred between the claps of my hands?

But amidst that anger, I know for sure that one wrong choice will lead to another. I most probably have to commit a lie after I put the cat to rest. So no, no. Its a definite NO.

How can I end the life of a living creature for 'killing' a thing that is not even alive. Life. That is a word with a lot of way to define it. Life can be hot and sweet at the same time like Life Chili Sauce. Life can be like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up.

Life: It is about the gift not the package it comes in.

Or it could be like a box of chocolates - a cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that no one ever asks for, non-returnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So, you're stuck with mostly undefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there's nothing else to eat while you're watching a game. Sure, once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee but it's gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you are left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts, which, if you are desperate enough to eat, leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper!

For me life is a choice. Allah will not change the fate of a people unless they first change themselves, goes the wisdom of the Quran. That is just the beauty. Its a choice baby. Its a choice. We can make the best out of even the bleakest moment if we want to. We can choose what and where we want to be. So lets choose wisely. The choice is in our hand. Bak kata Aizat, 'Hanya Kau yang Mampu'.

ps: I need to work on my anger management pronto!
