Spring Cleaning

"Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed"
| Abraham Lincoln |

There are three kinds of people in the world today. There are "well-poisoners", who discourage you and stomp on your creativity and tell you what you can't do. There are "lawn-mowers", people who are well-intentioned but self-absorbed; they tend to their own needs, mow their own lawns, and never leave their yards to help another person. Finally, there are "life-enhancers", people who reach out to enrich the lives of others, to lift them up and inspire them. We need to be life-enhancers, and we need to surround ourselves with life-enhancers.

I started my day by getting rid of unwanted things and unwanted people- the kind that sits idly in our online profiles with zero interaction and taking up the space by putting up inappropriate statuses. In short, today is about getting off negativity. I don't have room for any of it. So I hugged my hairdresser a little longer than usual for getting me the hairdo I didn't even dare to imagine myself with before. I decided to get a haircut randomly and only stopped to ponder when I was already seated at the hair salon. I was fidgety and nervous throughout the transformation and prayed hard that I don't end up looking like Chucky! To my relief an hour later, I feel brand new! teehee. I've always loved my locks. Chopping it off might not be so much of a big deal for others, but it is a huge significant step for me. It means getting out of my comfort zone and attempting the uncertain.

Getting out of our comfort zone and having the courage to discover the route not taken are what we need to move forward. Unfortunately, most of the time those steps are the hardest to take. Sometimes, its not really that we lack courage. But despite our mountain high curiosity to explore our own strength, we always worry that we end up in an unfamiliar place. We are afraid that we too, might become an unfamiliar person. Someone who we ourselves cannot recognize .

Without realizing it, we are in constant need of approvals from others. We give people the power to tell us who or how good we are by craving for complements and attention. Encouragement is vital. But what if we unconsciously hand over the power to cheer us on to the people that will only use it to pull us down? More often than not we spend so much time listening to others and let ourselves be bothered by what they think until we no longer remember who we are and what we want. We let others define happiness and success for us. And in the end, we live our lives only to impress and satisfy someone who is not ourselves. Someone who does not even care.

Don't let yourself; worry when you're doing your best, think evil of anyone until you have the fact, believe a thing is impossible without trying it, waste time on trivial matters, imagine that good intentions are a satisfactory excuse or harbor bitterness toward God or a person.
